MASTER ARCHER came back with a tendon injury in his last race on July 13th 2019 at Ascot. the ground was a little to fast for him. He had the best part of nine months off and then Laura Toller started retraining him. She loved him and thought he would do well eventing. I don’t know how good he will be but he has gone to a young professional venter called Harry Horton who keeps us informed in how he is coming along. MASTER ARCHER was the best ride and was loved by everyone. He had a very laid back character and had the auspicious record of being second on eight consecutive occasions before winning and then was second again. He won twice in all and was third once so he was placed in 50% of his races as he ran twenty four times.
MASTER ARCHER is a very attractive colt by Mastercraftsman. He was bought at Goffs Orby Sale in 2015 with many good judges as underbidders He was never going to be an early type and has always looked on the weak side. At the age of four he is finally looking stronger and more mature. He is the most uncomplicated horse going and everyone enjoys riding him either at home or on the racecourse. He is a charming very kind horse who has given the Fred Archer Atlantic Partners lots of fun.
He never runs a bad race and after eight consecutive seconds he has now had two wins at Chester.
Official Rating: 90
02.09.19 We are retiring MASTER ARCHER due to sustaining a leg injury. He will have the best part of a year off and then we will find him a nice home. He is such a gorgeous horse with a sweet character and he has given his partners lots of fun and frustrations. His nine seconds on the trot on the flat was quite amusing. He won twice at Chester which was the highlight.
7.5.19 MASTER ARCHER will be declared for the Chester Cup which he is unlikely to get in to in which case he will run in The Plate which is the race for the horses that didnt make the cut for the big race. He looks in great form but a few pounds heavier than last year. We would have loved to have run him before but unfortunately he had a minor setback which stopped him running beforehand.
