We start this week in nervous anticipation as not only is THE TIN MAN running for the fourth time in The Haydock Sprint Cup, having won as well as been second and third in the past but we have over half our string running. First off is LORD GEORGE (Salisbury tomorrow) folowed by SPANISH ARCHER (Haydock Thursday), EXCELLED (Kempton Friday) & TURN ON THE CHARM (Kempton Friday) and THE TIN MAN (Haydock Saturday),SOCIETY PRINCE (Thirsk Saturday) and possibly ENVISAGING( Kempton. Saturday).
This morning there was a really good article written by Julian Muscat about The Ormonde Partnership who owns THE TIN MAN in The Racing Post which has started the week off very well. We think the old boy is in good form and certainly at home he looks as well as ever. He had a few niggles after Newbury which we have sorted out and he seems fresh and well now. We wont know if he is as good as ever until next Saturday. I know he won on soft ground last year but I think his favoured ground is really good. We are looking forward to being back there for the fourth time having won it and been second and third in the past.
LORD GEORGE had a long holiday this spring and came back in cracking form and looks stronger and happier. You never quite know how he is going to run but if his home work is anything to go by he should run well. We have been waiting for some good or softer ground in order to run SPANISH ARCHER. He is such a lightly raced horse and we think still very exciting. He is growing up all the time having been quite quirky in his younger days. All being well he is running at Haydock on Thursday. TURN ON THE CHARM is one of our two year olds and we like him. Hopefully he will get to have his first race at Kempton on Friday. EXCELLED is also there on Friday and may easily run. She has a lot of ability but everything has to go right for her. We were more than delighted with SOCIETY PRINCE when he won after 661 days off the track at Yarmouth a couple of week ago. It looks as if he will head up to Thirsk on Saturday but his partners adore him and I know he wont be short of supporters. Last year we were able to run ENVISAGING who is THE TIN MANS lead horse on the same day as The Sprint Cup and it looks as if we will be doing the same this year and in the same race at Kempton. He is such a lovely horse and it was lovely to see him win a few weeks ago.
